Jenni Kayne epitomizes the laid-back, clean, California lifestyle. Her brand began as a great resource for high-quality sartorial staples, but in 2017 expanded into home decor. It was an obvious and clear evolution of the Jenni Kayne world since her own home and the spaces shown on her blog Rip & Tan were themselves so beautifully put together.
Once launched, their home decor line was complemented with a physical space – a traveling airstream that served as a pop-up shop. Since then, they knew that they wanted to go even further and put their stamp on something permanent. That’s when they found the lake house. “We’ve been dreaming of renovating a house that embodies our clean, natural aesthetic and brings the Jenni Kayne brand to life,” said Julia Hunter, the brand’s president. “We looked at a few property options in March earlier this year thinking that if we found something, we could pull it off in 2020. But then we went into escrow on this house in April and started construction right away.” Six months later, the lake house was inaugurated and is now for sale.
The look of the Jenni Kayne lake house is as serene as it is stylish. With a palette inspired by nature, it communicates the brand’s vision of a minimalist and earthy aesthetic to a T. To learn from the best, we asked Julia to share with us 5 of her renovation tips.
