Interior designer Kathleen Walsh had already worked with her clients on three projects prior to this new home that they wanted to build in Martha’s Vineyard. In the past, they had gone for colorful, eclectic spaces. This time, they felt inspired by Belgian farmhouses for their simple yet rustic quality.
“It was important to the owners that we not rely on the dominant, almost expected New England look that can be found on the island,” she explained. “Our team of architects, designers, and builders worked to give a nod to the client’s strong admiration of Belgian farmhouses, and softened design elements to blend European inspiration with a New England vernacular.” In concert with these professionals, Kathleen used her expertise in designing down to the last detail to create a unique and thoughtfully crafted space. We asked her advice on how to achieve this look, head to our slideshow to find out!
